“Beekeeping is a lifestyle, not a job,” enthuses Ian as he discusses the business that he and his brother Leaf, a graduate in Apiary Technology, have been building since 1998. The brothers manage some 200 colonies in several bee yards and pride themselves on the production of three very distinct, seasonal honeys. A Berg-En-Dal specialty, the rarely-produced dandelion honey has become a consumer favourite. All the honeys are completely processed without pasteurization and are packaged for sale in the on-site honey house. Leaf and Ian welcome increasing consumer awareness of the inherent benefits of local food products.
