All Savour Ottawa members undergo a verification process to ensure that they are meeting at least the minimum requirements of their membership category. The minimum requirements are set by member focus groups and can be reviewed and expanded annually.

Food Service members must purchase at minimum 15% of their food costs, or $25,000, directly from local farmers. (see definition of local on membership page)
Distinguished Food Service members must purchase at minimum 25% of their food costs, or $50,000, directly from local farmers.

Everything that the producer sells under the Savour Ottawa name must be grown or raised on their farm. Producers may be selling products that come from other farms in the region, but it should be clearly identified that it is not from their farm.

The province of Ontario is boosting grassroots marketing efforts in Ottawa and strengthening the rural economy by encouraging more residents and businesses to buy locally grown food by investing in the Savour Ottawa program.
