Canada Food Day – host a local food BBQ!
The 8th annual “Canada Food Day” is being held on July 31st this year. This is a coast to coast barbecue celebrating Canadian food through regional BBQ’s. This is how it works: throughout the week of July 26-30, friends assemble and decide who is going to host and who is going to bring which local ingredients. On the 31st everyone convenes to celebrate your regional bounty, with Canadians across the country.
For omnivorous barbecuing, try beef burgers from Rolling Acres Farms or any of Savour Ottawa’s local beef producers (listed below). To deviate from traditional beef burger, consider wild boar from Trillium Meadow Farm or lamb sausages from La Ferme Albé Sheep Farm. Great vegetable options are local vegetable and fruit skewers, local green salads with mushrooms, radishes and borscht.
Remember to take pictures of the food and party and post it on Anita’s website flavoursofcanada.ca and check out what other Canadians enjoyed with you across Canada.
